Error: No inventory left of a particular commodity although there’s a grade in a negative position

Challenge:

You have no inventory left of a particular commodity, but have a grade in a negative position.

For example, say you have 50 tonnes of Hard Red Spring wheat set as No.1 grade. You record a sale for five tonnes of No. 2 wheat without recording a transfer or adding any production to the No. 2 grade. You then record a sale for the remaining 45 tonnes as No. 1 wheat. You’re now reporting a negative amount of grade No. 2 and can’t record a transfer to change this.

Solution:

  1. Add new production of No. 2 grade Hard Red Spring wheat.
  2. Add new Starting Inventory as No. 2 grade Hard Red Spring wheat.
  3. Reverse the sale and correct the mistake by transferring No. 1 grade wheat to No. 2 before you re-enter the sale.
