Estimate your soil carbon using AgExpert Field and Holos™
AgExpert customers can grow their on-farm sustainability knowledge by using the new Sustainability feature that estimates their farm’s soil carbon and carbon sequestration based on the information they are already tracking in Field. As simple as opting-in, Field premium customers will have the ability to easily view an estimate of their operation’s soil organic carbon. These insights will educate them with more, practical information as the topic of sustainability increases more and more. Eventually AgExpert will offer farmers a holistic view of their soil carbon by also measuring greenhouse gas emissions related to their production. This will enable more confidence when it comes to making management decisions related to sustainability. AgExpert Field leverages outputs from the Holos™, developed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Along with weather and soil data, Holos™ estimates carbon sequestration by field using field area, crop type, tillage activities, manure applications and yield data already entered in AgExpert.
To Connect to Holos, click More on the left and then click MyFarmConnect. Click the AgExpert Sustainability tile.

Next click Get connected in the top right corner.

You can click the How is this calculated button to see an explanation of how the carbon is captured and calculated.

Next click Sustainability on the left and click Soil Carbon.

A banner may appear at the top of the screen if you have missing or have incomplete data as this will impact your carbon accuracy reporting. If you see the message, click review data issues and select a crop year. You will see the areas that have been identified for you to improve your carbon estimate accuracy.

Click the desired to crop year to fix the detected issues.

Click Harvest activity is missing for a field to show the list of fields that require activity updates. To correct this, edit your harvest activity from the Activities page. Click Ignore to ignore the fields you don’t want factored in the reporting.
