Using Auto Fill to complete budget

The Auto Fill feature allows you to automatically enter values in the Budget dialogue box. You can auto fill budget values for an entire row or column.

To Auto Fill your budget:

  1. Select Budget from the Management menu. The Budget dialogue box appears.
  2. Select the row or column you want to fill in the budget spreadsheet on the right and click Auto Fill…. The Auto Fill dialogue box appears with the following options:
    • Set each period in the current row to the following amountSet a specific budget value for each cell in the selected row by entering a dollar amount.
    • Set the first amount of the current row to - Enter a dollar amount. It will be entered into the first budget period of the selected row.
    • Then successive periods change by the following - Enter a percentage amount (5%, 25%, etc.). Each successive cell in the selected row will change by that percentage.
    • For example, if you entered $500.00 and a percentage of 10%, the first cell would be set to $500.00 and the second cell would increase by 10% to be set to $550.00 The remaining cells in the row would be set accordingly.
    • Set the first value of the current row to - Enter a dollar amount. It will be entered into the first budget period of the selected row.
    • Then successive periods change by the following amount - Enter a dollar amount. Each successive cell in the selected row will change by that amount.
    • For example, if you entered $500.00 for the first value and $50.00 for the second value, the first cell would be set to $500.00, the second to $550.00, the third to $600.00, and so on.
    • Adjust each of amounts in the current row by the following - Enter a percentage (5%, 25%, etc.). Any budget amount that currently exists in the selected row will be adjusted by that percentage.
    • For example, if you entered 10% and the selected row had values of $100.00, $200.00, $300.00, they’d be adjusted to $110.00, $220.00 and $330.00.
    • Adjust each of the existing budget amounts in the current column by the following - Enter a percentage (5%, 25%, etc.). Any budget amount that currently exists in the selected column will be adjusted by that percentage.
    • For example, if you entered 10% and the selected column had values of $100.00, $200.00 and $300.00, they’d be adjusted to $110.00, $220.00 and $330.00.
    • Set the amounts from the following previous year’s income and expense amounts - Select a year to populate the budget spreadsheet.
  3. Make your selections and click Apply.
