Setting up Inputs

Before you can begin recording activities on your fields, you must setup any inputs that you use.  You can find the inputs landing page by clicking More > Inputs.

There are four types of inputs available for you to setup: seeds, crop protection products, fertilizers, and manure.  Each type has an Add button to click to setup a new item.

Seeds

New seed inputs are entered first by crop, then by variety.  Make sure to enter your costing information, seeding rates, and any conversion information that might be necessary to accurately calculate your seed costs when you enter planting activities.

You will also want to make sure that your unit for harvests is correct, to make sure that your on-hand inventory is correct when you enter a harvest activity.  You can also assign a custom colour code for this seed and add any notes necessary.

If the variety you are attempting to add does not exist on our current seed list, you will need to click Variety missing?  Let us know.

Enter the variety name you are missing and fill in all the remaining information.  When you save the input, an email will be sent to FCC AgExpert.

We will do the work required to add the missing variety to the list and send you an email once it is available.  You can then edit the seed and update the variety with the name added.

Crop Protection Products

Crop protection products are available as a prescribed list of registered products in Canada.  You can search through the available list to find the product you need to add.

You can search this list by name, manufacturer, or PCP number.  If a crop protection product you are trying to add is not registered, and does not have a PCP number, it will not be able to be added to this list.

Add all your costing and application information so that an accurate cost of usage can be calculated when doing either a seed treatment or a spray activity.  You will also want to make sure to enter your re-entry interval and pre-harvest interval, to calculate when you can safely enter and harvest a field.

Fertilizer

Fertilizer inputs are a free-form setup screen, where you can enter the information for your different blends.  You can enter both dry and liquid types, making sure to fill in all the necessary conversion, costing, and application information.  This will allow for accurate costing information when entering a fertilizing activity.

You can also enter in your macronutrient percentages and any notes that you may want to keep track of.  If you are a potato producer, this information must be entered for your Potato Sustainability Alliance report to generate fertilizer information correctly.

Manure

Setting up manure is the same as setting up fertilizers.  It is a free form screen that allows you to enter your form, density, costing, and application information.  You will also be able to enter your pre-harvest interval, which allows Field to calculate when it is safe to harvest your crop after application.

Make sure to enter as much information as possible to accurately calculate your costs associated with entering a manure activity.  This includes any macronutrient information for potato producers to ensure the Potato Sustainability Alliance report generates correctly.
