Creating RL-1 and RL-1 Summary reports
You can use AgExpert Analyst to produce an RL-1 (Statement of Employment and Other Income) slip for employees or an RL-1 Summary report for employers. Employers in Quebec use the RL-1 slip to report:
- salaries
- wages
- taxable benefits
- tips
- commissions
- income “situated” on a reserve or premises and received by an Indian from an office or employment
- any other remuneration received by an employee
The RL-1 slip is also used to report amounts deducted at source from the above types of remuneration.
Note: RL-1 reports can only be sent to Revenu Québec by using the electronic upload. You can print paper copies for your employees, but can’t submit paper copies to Revenu Québec.
To view an RL1 or RL-1 Summary report:
- Select Report Console from the Reports menu. The report console appears.
- Select Payroll from the left menu panel, and then select RL1.
- Select an RL-1 Type:
- RL-1 – Original
- RL-1 – Amended
- RL-1 – Cancelled
- Select the calendar year to include in your report. You can limit the report to the previous or current fiscal year.
- Select the:
- Print the RL-1 slips check box to display the front of the RL-1 form
- Print back page check box to display the RL-1 information sheet
- Print the RL-1 Summary check box to display the front of the RL-1 Summary form
- Create XML file check box to upload the RL-1s to the Revenu Québec website
- If you select the Online check box, the Export File dialogue box appears. Browse to where you want to save the XML file and click Save. You can upload the file to the Revenu Québec website by clicking the Revenu Québec - Online filing of RL-1 link and following the instructions on the Revenu Québec website.

- Click the Other Info tab and enter the following information:
- Transmitter number – Enter the transmitter number Revenu Québec provides to employers. If you don’t have it, click the Revenu Québec - Online filing of RL-1 link to learn how to receive one.
- RL-1 number (Electronic) – This is a nine-digit number assigned by Revenu Québec. The program will advance the number each time a report is run.
- File number – This number is entered by you and will be added to the XML that’s sent to Revenu Québec. Each time a new XML is created, the number is advanced by one for tracking uploads to Revenu Québec.
- Language of communication – Select English or French.
- Identification number – Enter the number assigned to you by Revenu Québec.
- Contact – Enter your contact information. Name and Telephone number are required and Extension and Email address are optional.
