Using the Invoice Designer

The Invoice Designer has moveable fields that work with most pre-printed letter-size invoice templates.

To open the Invoice Designer:

  1. Select Preferences from the Setup menu. The Preferences dialogue box appears.
  2. Select the Invoices tab.
  3. Click Add or Edit. The Invoice Designer appears.

To design an invoice template:

  1. Enter the Template name.
  2. Select the type of invoice paper from the drop-down menu. If you change the paper type, the field positions will reset to the defaults for that type. You can also return to the defaults by clicking Reset to Defaults.
  3. Select the fields you want to include on the template. They’ll display in the design canvas to the right.

Note: You can reposition the fields in the design canvas by:

  • using your mouse to click and drag a field
  • clicking a field and using the arrow keys on your keyboard
  • clicking a field and using the arrow buttons below the design canvas
  1.  Select a date format from the Date format drop-down menu.
  2. If you selected Company logo, click Browse to find and upload an image.
  3. Use the Scale logo tool to change the size of the company logo field. Enter a ratio between 1 and 300 or use the arrows to change the ratio. This option is only available when Company logo is selected and you’ve uploaded an image.
  4. Click Print Test to print a test invoice. You may have to reposition the fields and print a few test invoices to align the template.
  5. Click Save.
