Using the Budget
AgExpert Accounting’s budget feature enables you to plan your income and expenses for the year and measure your business’ performance by comparing your budget to your actual income and expense values.
You can access the budgeting feature by clicking Planning on the left navigation panel and selecting Budget.
There are two tabs for you to work with – Income and Expense. For your budget, you will only work with income, expense and personal draws/advances accounts.
Accounts that have no budgeted amounts will show the word “Set”. Click “Set” on any line to get started with your budgeting.
The budget for each account is set monthly. You will simply type your budgeted figure into each month that you want to account for.
If you only want to budget an annual amount, place your budgeted amount into the last month of your fiscal year.
Click Save to close the account budget screen and apply your changes.
The amount you entered will now appear as your budgeted amount for that account.
If you are working in an account and decide you want to clear out items, you can click Clear to set the account to 0.00.
Continue working with your accounts until all your income and expenses are accounted for. As you work, your total projected net income or net loss will be updated at the top of the screen.
As you make your entries throughout the year, the budget will update and compare your budgeted totals to your actual totals, to let you know if you are on track or if you need to make some adjustments. You can keep an eye on both your budget to actual net income, and on individual accounts.
To get a printed copy of your budget to actual report, click the Print button at the top right of the budget screen.
