Completing Your Payroll Remittance
The payroll remittance is designed to generate a report with all payroll transactions and deductions that must be remitted for the selected period. It will clear the deduction liability accounts and post the total amount payable to CRA to the appropriate accounts payable supplier.
To begin your remittance, make sure that you have completed all payroll cheques for your reporting period, even if there is more than one payroll cycle. Most business remit deductions monthly, so you should make sure all cheques for the month are complete before saving your remittance.
On the left, click Payroll, then Remittances.
Click New remittance. If you are doing your CRA remittance, you can select CRA (source deductions). You can also choose from Revenu Québec (source deductions) if you are a Québec employer, or WCB if you are calculating your WCB remittance.
Accounting will automatically detect the period you are remitting your deductions for, based off the date of any outstanding payroll cheques. You will be given a summary of the amount payable, the totals for each individual deduction, and the gross payroll numbers. You will have the option to select to whom to remit, which is CRA-Payroll in this case.
If you click Review, you will see which paycheques are included on the remittance, and the individual deductions that were taken from those cheques.
Once you have determined your numbers are correct, click Save to record the remittance.
The remittance you just saved will appear on the payroll remittance landing page, in the appropriate section.
If you would like to print the remittance for your records, click the three dots on the right, and select Print report.
The report will open, and you can click the print button at the top left of the screen.
To enter your payment, you will have to go to your transaction screen and enter your payment as a withdrawal.
In case you notice an error in the remittance amount, you will have the option to reverse the transaction.
