Payroll > T4s > Generate and Submit RL1 Electronically

Each year, employers in Québec are required to submit RL-1 slips to Revenu Québec, summarizing employment income and deductions for their employees. AgExpert Accounting simplifies this process by allowing users to generate and submit RL-1s electronically. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you complete this task efficiently and accurately.

Step 1: Prepare Your Data

Before generating RL-1 slips, ensure that all employee and payroll information is up to date. AgExpert’s built-in alert system can help you verify that account mappings are correctly configured, reducing the risk of errors during submission.

Step 2: Generate RL-1 slips

Navigate to the Employee tab in the Payroll section within AgExpert Accounting. Select RL-1 and enter the appropriate tax year. Review each slip carefully to confirm that all amounts and employee details are accurate. This step is crucial to ensure compliance and avoid corrections later.

Select the appropriate options and click on Continue

Step 3: Export the XML File

Once the RL-1 slips are verified, use the “RL-1 file for online filing” option to generate an XML file. Save this file securely on your computer, as it will be uploaded directly to Revenu Québec’s online portal.

Step 4: Log in to Revenu Québec’s Online Services

Visit https://www.revenuquebec.ca/en/ and log in using your business credentials. Ensure you have the necessary access rights to submit RL-1s on behalf of your organization.

Step 5: Upload the XML File

Within the portal, select the RL-1 submission option. Upload the XML file you exported from AgExpert Accounting. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm and submit the file.

Step 6: Save the Confirmation

After submission, download and save the confirmation receipt provided by Revenu Québec. This serves as proof of submission and should be retained for your records.

To ensure your RL-1 slips are submitted accurately and on time, follow the steps outlined above. If you need assistance at any point or would like a printable version of this guide, don’t hesitate to call 1-800-667-7893 for support.
