Profit Analysis
Profit analysis is used to analyze your field profitability by comparing your costs to your revenue. Values are sourced from information entered in AgExpert Field. When working with profit analysis, it is important to understand where the values are being sourced from.
Crop – comes from the plant activity of a field
Area – the size of a field based on its boundaries created during field set-up
Input costs – defaults to the per acre expense derived from your input cost and usage, equipment usage cost, and labour cost.
Other costs – defaults are sourced from the other costs and revenue page
Other revenue – defaults are sourced from the other costs and revenue page
Yield – defaults to your total yield per acre/hectare across all harvest activities for a field
Sale price – defaults are sourced from contracts. The values are the average sale price based on open and closed contracts signed within the last 12 months.
Field profit (total and per ac/ha) – calculated by totalling your revenue and subtracting your expenses
To access profit analysis, click Profitability > Profit Analysis.
Each field will be available in vertical list. You can use the filters located at the top of the page to work with specific fields or crops.
If any information has been entered into the current crop year, this information will populate the appropriate fields, based on the defined values above. These fields are fully editable, creating a scenario-based profit analysis.
As you work on your projections, there are several tools available to you to assist in faster data entry. If you would like to have each field populate the same value for a column (such as input costs or other costs), you can enter the amount at the top of the column and click the arrow button to apply this amount.
If you need to reset a column, click the refresh button. All values will revert to their default value.
You can also reset the entire page by clicking Reset on the bottom right.
Each column will total at the bottom of the page, and field profit will display in the right-most column.
You can get a report by clicking Report on the top right corner of the page.
The report itself is quite wide to accommodate all columns, and so may not print as expected on regular paper. You can export the report to a spreadsheet to further manipulate or format the report if desired.
When you are ready, click Save to save the changes you made to the analysis.
A non-editable version of profit analysis is found by clicking Profitability > Year-to-date.
