Managing enterprises
As a producer, you’re faced with organizing your various enterprises to come up with the right combination to produce the greatest profit from your investment. Should you invest in more cattle to complement your cropping enterprise, or should you increase your canola acreage versus your wheat acreage?
You can track your various enterprises (grain, livestock, trucking, dairy, etc.) by establishing enterprise splits in your accounting system. Or, if you’re strictly a grain producer, you can establish specific enterprises within your grain operation, such as grain, oilseed and pulse enterprises.
AgExpert Analyst enables you to track your enterprises by establishing enterprise splits for each income and expense account in your Chart of Accounts. You can add enterprises if your farming operation expands in the future. The calculations for enterprise analysis are based on the current total values of the income and expense accounts. This means you can adjust the percentages at any time and generate a variety of reports based on your updated percentage splits.
You can use enterprise analysis in the following reports and management features:
- Income/Expense reports: summary, detailed and chart options
- Budget feature
- Operational Benchmarking features: Efficiency Measures and Production Unit Costing feature
