Changes to the soil test observation screen
As part of the Field Manager PRO and Field Manager PRO 360 2016-01 releases, the Soil Test Observation screen has been updated for ease of use.
To add a soil test observation:
- Select your land from the land tree on the main dialogue box.
- Select Enter a Soil Test Observation from the Records menu or click the Soil Test Observation icon.
- Enter the required information. You can modify certain items by clicking the pencil icon and making your change.
- Select the land on which the soil was tested. This is only displayed when you are editing an existing soil test observation. Use this field to change the land area if you recorded it incorrectly the first time.
- Enter the date the samples were taken under Date Sampled.
- Enter or select the name of the Laboratory that performed the soil test under Laboratory.
- Enter or select the soil that was tested under Soil Type.
- Enter or select the soil bulk density. This is generally measure in pounds per square inch (PSI) under Compaction.
- Enter any additional information for this observation under Notes.
- To add or change nutrient units, click Change nutrient units.
Enter the sample details in the middle section (like the sample name and nutrients):
- Enter the percentage of total organic matter found in the soil under Organic Matter.
- Enter the level of acidity or alkalinity found at each depth under Soil PH.
- Enter the buffer PH information under Buffer PH.
- Enter the CEC information under CEC.
Enter the recommended details in the bottom section:
- Define the Nutrient Recommendation Rates.
- Select Include fertilizer operations and Include manure operations to have these numbers automatically display the amounts of N, P205, K20 and S.
- Applied N is the total N applied to the field through fertilizer and manure operations in the 10 months following the day the sample was taken.
- Applied P2O5 is the total P applied to the field through fertilizer and manure operations in the 10 months following the day the sample was taken multiplied by 2.29.
- Applied K2O is the total K applied to the field through fertilizer and manure operations in the 10 months following the day the sample was taken multiplied by 1.20.
- Applied S is the total S applied to the field through fertilizer and manure operations in the 10 months following the day the sample was taken.
- Enter the sample name.
- Enter the recommended levels of N, P2O5, K2O and S.
- To add a new sample to the grid click <insert icon>.
- To add GIS co-ordinates for your observation, select the GIS tab and enter your information. This information is optional.
- To add an image for your observation, select the Image tab and load the image and/or draw your own sketch. This information is optional.
- To add a link to a Related Document for your observation, select the Related Documents tab and enter the information. This information is optional.
- Click Save & Close.
